 About Palermo Palermo is situated around a natural harbor in the north-western part of the island of Sicily, Italy. It is administrative center of Sicily and one of the largest cities in Italy. Founded as a trading Phoenician settlement in the far 8th century BC, it was conquered by Rome in the First Punic War (264-241 BC). Palermo is one of the oldest cities of Europe.
