In 16th century the northern lands of Germany became the home of Protestant Reformation. From there it spread all over Europe. After loosing in the World War || Germany was devastated. All major cities were in ruins, many of its territories were given to the neighbouring countries and the it was eventually divided into two separate states. After the reunification in 1990, Germany is a federal parliamentary republic consisting of 16 states and the most populous country in Europe. Germany is a favorite tourist destination for many people and it really has much to offer to its visitors. The lively capital city of Berlin is noted for its rich history, great architectural monuments, numerous cultural institutions and lively nightlife. Among the most popular sights in Germany must be mentioned the Cologne Cathedral, the Neuschwanstein and Heidelberg castles, the "Haus am Checkpoint Charlie" Museum representing the history of the Berlin Wall and the beautiful Church of Our Lady in Dresden. Some of Europe’s most picturesque areas, world-wibde famous for its stunning natural beauty, can be found in Germany. The Bavarian Alps are situated in the southern part of the country. This is Germany’s most visited region with romantic small villages, crystal-clear lakes and fairytale castles, all nestled between the slopes of magnifcent, snow-covered Alpian peaks. The Saxon Switzerland National Park ia a real jewel in the country’s scenic crown. Wits its strange rock needles, steep cliffs bent over deep gorges, it is a place worthing your visit. Wherever you travel in Germany, there is always something interesting to see or do.
